After a successful first season in the FIA Formula E Championship, NEXTEV's form went in the wrong direction during the second season.
During the first ever Formula E season, NEXTEV came fourth in the Teams' Championship, while their main driver Nelson Piquet Jr. was able to win the Drivers' Championship during the final race.
But as the FIA allowed all Formula E teams during the second season to use their own powertrain, and it became apparent that the NEXTEV team went down the wrong direction with their development.
With a sixth place finish in the opening ePrix at Beijing being their best finishing position of the season and by the time teams left the final race in London; they were last out of the teams to take part.
While as a team they didn't do well overall, they did bring some stability to the team looking forward to the 2016/17 season. With Nelson Piquet Jr. being joined by Oliver Turvey for 2015/16 after Turvey performed well in the final two races of the first season; the driver line up remains the same for the new season ahead.
My prediction for the NEXTEV team this season is that I really do think that the team will challenge at the front but not straight away. I feel that it could be a few races into the season that they will do this but will start the season strongly and crucially in a better position that last season.
With regards to their driver line up, I see both Piquet Jr and Turvey really pushing each other this season and if you was to ask me which driver would come out on top; I would have to say that it will be Turvey but only just. As for their Constructors championship position; I would say that the NEXTEV team are more than capable of getting into the top three this season but I feel that they will end up fourth at the end of the season.
