NEXTEV team reveal their season three test car

It has been announced this morning by the NextEV team have finished their Season 3 private testing program, and now are set for the collective tests scheduled for Donington Park in a few weeks.

The Formula E teams are permitted to carry out up to 15 days of private testing, which must conclude before the end of July. On top of this, the teams are given six days of communal testing which will be held at Donington Park. The FIA revealed the pre-season test date for the FIA Formula E Championship yesterday; with three days scheduled at the end of August and three dates at the start of September.

NextEV's private testing has wrapped up with extensive trials of their new powertrain, the NextEV 700R, being carried out at the Calafat Circuit in Spain.

Driving the car were Season 1 Champion Nelson Piquet Jnr, Oliver Turvey & Ben Hanley. Having had a disappointing Season 2 campaign, NextEV Team Principal Martin Leach says in his interview today that preparation is key to ensuring a stronger third season:-

“We have been working incredibly hard for some time now on our new car for the 2016/17 season and have our sights firmly set on arriving in Hong Kong very well prepared and with a well-tested car. There are some interesting developments for next season, one of which is the increased regeneration levels, and so these technical upgrades have been a part of the work.

“We have been encouraged by our reliability and our programme progress is exactly in line with our planning. We look forward to getting on track at Donington for some comparison work against the other teams and to further cementing our strong pre-season testing work and performance.”

On Friday, NextEV revealed pictures of their test car. Featuring a plain white livery, with a departure from the teal livery the team ran last season.
