This afternoon in Silverstone, Nico Rosberg stayed at the top of the timesheets in FP2 ahead of the Ferrari drivers of Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel.
In the first 15 minutes of the session we saw Romain Grosjean beaching his car at Luffield corner after stating on the team radio that something wasn’t right with the car. This then brought out the red flags while the marshals recovered the Lotus from the corner.
We also saw in the first 15 minutes of the session McLaren-Honda driver Fernando Alonso doing the same thing as Grosjean and went onto the gravel trap at Luffield corner but Alonso was able to get out of it and continue running in the session.
In the final 15 minutes of the session, Manor F1 driver Roberto Merhi at Luffield corner has breeched the front of his car into the gravel trap after spinning his rear tyres into the corner. He managed to find reverse gear just as a red flag was announced by the FIA and managed to get back running in the session.
But it was Nico Rosberg who topped the timesheets with a laptime of 1.34.155 ahead of Kimi Raikkonen who finished in second place 0.347 seconds behind him but was ahead of his team mate Sebastian Vettel in third place who was 0.367 seconds behind the Mercedes of Rosberg.
Lewis Hamilton finished the session in fourth place ahead of Daniil Kvyat in fifth place and Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen who finished in sixth and seventh places. Nico Hulkenberg ended the session in eighth place ahead of Carlos Sainz Jr in ninth place and Felipe Massa who rounded off the top ten finishers.
Pastor Maldonado ended the session in eleventh place ahead of Valtteri Bottas in twelfth place, Sergio Perez in thirteenth place, Romain Grosjean in fourteenth place and Fernando Alonso in fifteenth place.
As we head into the latter stages of the grid, Felipe Nasr finished the session in sixteenth place, Jenson Button finished in seventeenth place ahead of Marcus Ericsson in eighteenth place and ahead of the two Manor F1 drivers of Will Stevens and Roberto Merhi who finished the session in nineteenth and twentieth places.
