Sebastian Buemi and Renault e.Dams collect Championships Awards at FIA Gala

Yesterday evening, Formula E Champion Sebastien Buemi and the Renault e.dams team were presented with their championship-winning trophies at the FIA Formula E Championship Awards Gala at the British Museum.

After 10 races over 10 months in four continents, the championship was decided in the Visa London ePrix double-header, where Buemi narrowly edged out Lucas di Grassi to claim his first title in the all-electric racing series.

In a statement at the awards ceremony last night, Buemi referenced missing out on the season one title by a single point and hard that was for him to deal with that and thanked his team for the hardwork this season to help him become the champion of the series. Buemi said the following:-

“Last year we were somewhere not very far away from here and it was something very hard to take,” he said, “And I can tell you that it's not easy to get over that. Last week I lost Le Mans on the last lap and that was not easy to leave and go on – but I knew that this weekend I had a great team and two great bosses who helped me. I was a bit scared, I thought I can't lose again – I gave everything today. Lucas did a great job all season, so well done to Abt and Lucas.

“It's been a great season, congratulations to all the other drivers – you've been amazing. Thank you to the whole team.”

With back-to-back wins by Nico Prost, Renault e.dams defended the teams' championship, overcoming Abt Schaeffler Audi Sport in the final race.

On a great evening for the world's first all-electric single-seater championship, a host of awards were handed out. The winners were:
