Susie Wolff to test Williams' 2015 car at Barcelona test in Mid-February

It has been announced this morning that Susie Wolff will test Williams' 2015 car, the FW37, at the Barcelona test in mid-February.

But Wolff who became the first woman to participate in a Grand Prix weekend in 20 years when she drove during Friday practice at the British and German GPs, has been promoted as the teams Test driver or 2015. She was previously the team’s Development Driver.

While the resurgent Williams outfit are yet to confirm their plans for the three upcoming winter tests, Wolff has revealed she will be behind the wheel of the team's new car at a least one of the Spain-based meets. Wolff revealed the news on her official account on Twitter as follows:-

'With 6 weeks until my first test in the @WilliamsRacing #FW37 its full focus on fitness & preparation.'

Even though many pundits and fans have been debating about Wolff acquiring Formula One experience and running since last season, it is clear that she is delighted to have secured this opportunity and why wouldn't she happy? This is one step closer for Wolff to achieve her dream and show that she is just as talented as a male racing driver who is given the same opportunity.

As a woman who has followed motorsport since I was seven years old, it is great to see Wolff's hard work and determination being rewarded and also getting closer to achieving her dream of racing in the sport in the near future. This could also inspire and motivate other women who aspire to have the same dream as Wolff and to me, she is a valid role model for her peers and has built a reasonable platform for others in the same position to aspire to.

It is very clear that Wolff still has a long way to go still to achieve her ultimate dream of racing in the sport but the fact that she has been able to make significant steps closer is a great achievement for her and it is something that the sport needs to see and also recognise too.

But I am really looking forward to seeing how Wolff performs this season in her new role at the Williams team and also during the pre-season test in Barcelona. It is clear that the Williams team believe that Wolff has the talent and the ability to fully succeed in the role, acquire further experience and also develop as a driver even more. And there is no doubt that she will ultimately go out on the track and deliver the best result that she can at every given opportunity and show what she can do in a Formula One car as much as she possibly can.

But you cannot deny that the rise of Wolff and her career in motorsport is astonishing thanks to the support she has received from the Williams team who have faith in her talent and her ability as a driver. And from what she has achieved so far in her career demonstrates to me that with hard work, grit and determination, anything is possible.

The future is indeed looking brighter for Wolff and I do hope that she is able to get a valid chance to show that she can race in Formula One in the near future; no matter how long it takes her to achieve this.

The first winter test takes place at Jerez from February 1, with the first of the two subsequent Barcelona tests starting on Thursday February 19 with Driving for Pleasure covering each of the three tests in turn. The pre-season test dates are as follows below:-

Pre-season Test dates:
February 1-4: Jerez, Spain.
