France and Switzerland

The Alpine run is exactly what it says on the tin, a run through the Alps. We start the assault on the Alps at Lake Geneva, we then spend the next few days zigzagging our way across the Alps towards Austria. We use a multitude of mountain passes on the route, we drive some of the best roads in the world including the world-famous Stelvio pass, and the very road used in James Bond Goldfinger.

And the best bit – at the end of each day we will be rolling up to a nice cozy hotel, checking in and spending the night! So if our camping Tours aren`t for you, this is the trip for you. See all the same amazing places, stay in all the same locations, but do it while enjoying the luxury of a hotel.

We have run `The Alpine Run` route since 2014, and only a few very small changes have been made over that time. However, this is the 1st time we will be using hotels instead of campsites. We 1st meet at a hotel in Dover for a meet & greet/tour brief and this is also the perfect opportunity to get to know fellow members. The following morning we head to the Euro tunnel, after crossing the channel we head to our 1st stop in Reims before heading to the 2nd night hotel close to Lake Geneva.

From Lake Geneva, we head off into the Alps, one of the 1st checkpoints in the beautiful Swiss town Interlaken. We also have a little surprise checkpoint just after Interlaken, it`s voted one of the top 10 most beautiful places in the world. Once the 1st two checkpoints are out the way we head on to the amazing mountain passes. One of the 1st passes we tackle is the Grimsel Pass, this then leads to the Furka Pass. The Furka pass is world-famous and features in the James Bond movie Goldfinger where Bond is chasing the Ford Mustang in his Aston. We will also be stopping here to visit the Rhone glacier, you can even walk right inside it!

We will then be heading to our next hotel just outside Chur, this hotel is nestled right in the mountains. It can be a bit chilly but that’s ok I`m sure we can find a nice open fire in the bar area to keep us warm. Our 1st checkpoint the following morning is the town of Chur, it’s only around a 30-minute drive from the hotel, Chur old town is stunning, narrow streets with the mountains in view at the end of every street, even towering over buildings. After this checkpoint, we head further into the alps taking on, even more, mountain passes, before reaching the world-famous Stelvio Pass. We will be staying at an amazing hotel right at the very top of the pass! how cool is that?

Unfortunately, from here its time to start the return journey, however, there is still plenty to see and do. There are still a few mountain passes as we head out of the Alps and we have a special checkpoint at an amazing location, we found this place while lost and personally think it’s one of the most beautiful places we have ever visited. Once out of the Alps we will be thundering through Germany towards Stuttgart, we can take full advantage of the limit free Autobahn`s heading to our final hotel.

The final day we will pretty much be heading straight back to Calais to catch our return train, we do have a few stops planned but they are all en-route.
